PRIVILEGE 515 "GIRAMONDO" (2009 - refit 2022 )
Privilege 515: Refit 2022, owners version. A rare opportunity to buy a Privilege 5 series with an air-conditioned owners cabin spanning 8m across both hulls offering the luxury of a super king bed. After having undergone a complete refit in 2022 she has the air of a nearly new vessel but retains the timeless handcrafted elegance of her walnut finish with leather L-shaped lounge and fully equipped galley boasting a full size Bosch dishwasher, washing machine and gas hob/oven. From the hull up this vessel was designed for offshore sailing in safety and comfort with a 200l/h fresh water maker system to live off-grid indefinitely, or until you run out of vegetables.
While a 50 foot catamaran may seem daunting, Privilege have succeeded in configuring a helm with all the controls within a fully enclosed helm position to enable this vessel to be sailed solo aided by hydraulic raymarine auto-pilot and navigation equipment including radar and fish finder. She has new rigging and sails to move her upwards of an average 9 knots in the right conditions but more often cruises between 6 and 7 knots. She boasts twin head sails, code zero, storm gib, and a pro-radial tri-cut main sail all managed by Antal electric winches and clutches. In the absence of wind the two 75hp yanmar engines with folding props and line cutters can move her along at 8 knots from the two 300 litre fuel tanks with little fear of snagging an unseen fishing pot.
At anchor the Highfield 350 tender with 30hp 4-stroke outboard makes short work of ferrying to shore and back and is easily lifted onto the transforms platform under the 1600W solar by the electric stainless steel davits. The solar adequately tops up the 1460Ah of lithium batteries which support the day-to-day running of the two fridges, freezer and other energy needs; the washing machine and dishwasher are happy to be run off batteries while at sea, and the fresh water electric toilets prevent the build up of unpleasant smells. The rear teak deck provides a sociable space for owners and up to 6 guests to enjoy dinner and drinks with shade from the sun and rain, or to prepare for a swim or a dive using the onboard dive tank compressor.
There is so much more to this remarkable vessel that needs to be seen to be appreciated.
